WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION?

Spiritual Direction is the practice of joining people as they attempt to deepen their relationship with the divine, or learn to grow in their own personal spirituality.

Join Cher Stone, member of Spiritual Directors International and graduate of the Haden Institute, to develop a deeper relationship with the spiritual aspect of being human.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Spiritual direction is a time of listening attentively to the seeker in a sacred and safe space. Initial questions may relate to your personal story and your
relationship with God. There are no wrong answers, just progress and spiritual development.

WHO SEEKS DIRECTION?

A seeker is anyone with a desire for a deeper relationship with the divine and would like a companion along for the journey. A religious affiliation is not required.

THE TRUE DIRECTOR IS THE HOLY SPIRIT.
I THINK OF MYSELF AS A SOUL COMPANION.

I am someone to accompany you on your spiritual journey. I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I do know that all we need resides within each of us. Our spirituality is not invented, but discovered.

After practicing as a barber/stylist/salon owner for 42 years, I have expanded my vocation as a listener by becoming a Spiritual Director. I have been practicing Spiritual Direction since 2013. This melds my passion for spirituality and listening to people and my lifelong commitment to a relationship with God. I am an Episcopalian and have trained in all the positions of the laity.

I have graduated from Kerygma, a two-year scriptural program, and from Education For Ministry, a four-year program in the Swanee Theological School. The Haden Institute‘s two-year Spiritual Director’s program wrapped all of my studies and interests into the experience of a lifetime. While at Haden, I was exposed to the wonders of Dream Work and recently attended an Intensive Dream Work Conference. I have also enjoyed several Centering prayer intensives, including facilitator training courses, and I have recently returned from a Centering Prayer Intensive at St. Gertrude’s Spirit Center in Cottonwood, Idaho. I enjoy utilizing Centering Prayer and Dream Work in my Spiritual Direction Practice.

OFFERINGS

Summoned or not, God is present.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Spiritual Direction is for anyone seeking a deeper relationship with God. Sessions usually last an hour and a half, where we will discuss a multitude of spiritual subjects, guided by you and your specific needs. Just call to make an appointment at 208-757-3029, please leave a message if you don’t get an answer. Sessions take place on Wednesdays, though other days are available by special appointment.

GROUP SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Group Spiritual Direction is designed for friends, workmates, clergy groups, office staff or even book groups. Sessions are anywhere from one to two hours and progress as the group dictates. Each session is unique and insightful. The process is prayerful and confidential, as are all sessions. This is a sacred space for any group, big or small, to explore spirituality and its role in our world.

DREAM WORK GROUP

A Dream Group is composed of no more than twelve seekers interested in finding health and wholeness through working their dreams. By using the Haden process, based on the work of Carl Jung, unique insight is gained during each session. Sessions take place once a week and work one to two dreams . Rev. Bob Haden refers to dreams as “Unopened Letters From God” and the group is facilitated from that inspiring perspective. Individual dream work is also available.

CENTERING PRAYER

Centering prayer is a wonderful tool for listening to the divine in all things. This service offers a way to explore inner work through prayer and meditation, along with Spiritual Direction. Our group meets every Wednesday at 11:45 for one ‘sit’ of Centering Prayer, which offers strength and serenity for the entire week. For newcomers to Centering Prayer, books by Fr. Thomas Keating are a great introduction.
